Edweard Muybridge took this photo(s) to prove that horses do get airborne. At one time during galloping they are off all four hooves. the point of his work was to show the movement in a human and animal that the human eye can't see. With this photo I find it really cool that the horse going at full speed is very focused and only moves his legs while going, unlike a dog whose head is usally moving around constantly granted I do understand that the horse is trained racing horse. With Muybridge idea of photographing movement made and still makes people ponder the movement in everything. There even has been a sport show based on his idea. Can't remember the name of it but it does certain plays and sees the what happens to the body and sometimes the damage to the human body.
